AI at the Core of the Open Source Digital Workplace: A Lever for Digital Sovereignty
2026-06-02 , Main stage

The integration of AI into collaborative tools raises major challenges in terms of sovereignty, transparency, and control. This talk presents a feedback-based experience on integrating useful, controlled, and ethical AI within an open source digital workplace. It will address data control, the use of multiple AI models, and an open governance approach ensuring technological independence. A customizable ecosystem of AI assistants, based on a “human in the loop” principle, will illustrate how open source enables a progressive and controlled adoption of AI within European organizations.

In 2003, Veronika Mazour Mestrallet co-founded eXo Platform, a French provider of open-source intranet and digital workplace solutions. In 2022, she became its CEO with the ambition to offer an open-source and sovereign alternative to Microsoft 365.

A long-time advocate of open-source values - inclusivity, transparency, collaboration, mutual aid, and innovation - she works to promote a more free, sustainable, and responsible digital world.

Convinced that technology must serve the public interest, she places digital sovereignty at the heart of her vision, supporting public and private organizations in their transition to ethical, high-performance, and controlled tools.
